Hope BCCI and Sahara sort out their issues: Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly, who has been named captain of the Pune Warriors franchise in the absence ofYuvraj Singh, hopes that Sahara and BCCI will sort out their differences sooner rather than later. Sahara made the decision last Saturday just before the players' auction for this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) over long-standing business grievances with the BCCI and the IPL governing council's handling of Yuvraj.

Ganguly said he is looking forward to the fifth season of the IPL, adding the franchise's other players are looking forward to the tournament as well. "I am looking forward to this year's IPL and I hope the bosses of Sahara and BCCI settle this one out. Remember, there are quite a lot of players who are waiting to take the field," Ganguly told Times of India.

He admitted it would be difficult for Pune Warriors without Yuvraj, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy in the United States for a rare condition, mediastinal seminoma, a malignant tumour located between his lungs. Ganguly said Yuvraj is their main player and hopes he'll be back with a bang.

On Pune Warriors' chances in IPL-5 should they be able to take the field, Ganguly said it depends on how well the team plays as the Twenty20 format is unpredictable. "I am sure if we have a good team, we are going to fight till the end. It's important to stay positive all the time," he said, adding Pune Warriors can produce results if they utilise their resources well.

Meanwhile, another senior player of the Pune Warriors, Robin Uthappa told ESPNcricinfo the franchise has told the players not to worry. He also said he had received an email after Sahara chief Subrata Roy had made public his grievances with the BCCI. "It was nice of them to email us because they knew, as players, we would be worried. Hopefully in the next few days we should know something more," he added.

South African fast bowler Wayne Parnell, who is also part of the Pune Warriors, said he is waiting to receive information from the franchise, but isn't panicking just yet.
