World cricket will miss Laxman: Mahela
Mahela Jayawardene paid tribute to former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman, who recently announced his retirement, and said that the game would be at a loss without the latter's talent.
"Laxman was one of the finest players of our times and world cricket will miss him. He has contributed a lot to the game and to his country's success," Jayawardene said.
The Sri Lanka captain did say that he was surprised earlier by Rahul Dravid's decision, but also mention that he didn't know the circumstances under which Laxman did the same.
"I don't know under what circumstances he retired but every international cricketer will have to take a call finally and he must have thought it was time for him to go. Rahul (Dravid) surprised people when he decided to quit. VVS must also have some plan for his future."
Apart from being a terrific cricketer, Jayawardene also felt that Laxman was a good person "But you cannot take away his achievements as a cricketer. As a person also he is a fantastic guy," added the Wayamba United skipper.
