Amarnath may be axed as selector after differences with Srikkanth
Former Indian all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath may be replaced by Roger Binny after reports indicate that the former had differences with Kris Srikkanth. Though there has not been any official word about the same, speculation is rife that Amarnath may not get an extension in the committee.
Amarnath has been part of the committee since last year and it was widely expected that he would take over from Srikkanth when his tenure ended in September this year. But now, it seems as if Roger Binny might get the nod ahead of Amarnath.
Reports say that Amarnath was keen on replacing MS Dhoni as the Test skipper after embarrassing losses in England and Australia and that lead to differences with the incumbent Chairman.
When asked about this Amarnath said he hasn't any knowledge about the rumours doing the rounds and that he had no differences with regards to selection.
"I have had no problems in selection matters. I have absolutely no knowledge of speculation about my future in selection committee. I can tell you that there are certain things which are personal and should be kept that way," Amarnath told PTI.
When DDCA general secretary Sneh Bansal was contacted, he said, "I can confirm that DDCA never had any issues with Mr Amarnath. Now, if at all, he is not in the selection panel, then one first needs to figure out whether he is being compelled or he himself is not keen on continuing."
Former India opener Chetan Chauhan may replace Amamrnath should the 1983 World Cup hero be axed.
