London, Aug 15(ANI): Fast bowler Tim Bresnan has claimed England could be an improved side without the presence of Kevin Pietersen, and believes Jonny Bairstow is more than good enough to replace the South Africa born batsman.
Pietersen was dropped on Sunday after failing to reveal the contents, or apologize for texts he allegedly sent to South African players Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers during the drawn second Test at Headingley two weeks ago.
England need a win to level the three-match series at the Lord's Test, starting on Thursday, and Bresnan has no fears about taking on the side threatening to replace England as the world's No.1 Test side.
"It may be an even better side. It's one of those things where a talented player is being replaced by another talented player. So why should we miss a certain individual because he's unavailable for selection?" The Daily Star quoted Bresnan, as saying.
Bairstow was dropped for the third Test against West Indies this summer after the selectors saw him struggle against hostile short-pitched fast bowling, but he was recalled after hitting a century forEngland Lions against Australia A last week.
Bresnan said: "He's obviously a very talented player, he got a hundred last week so he's full of confidence."
The 27-year-old also insisted the mood in the England camp is "exceptional".
"It's just like it always is, to be fair, quite relaxed, quite -focused, we've still got the drive and desire to get that win and that's the ultimate thing really, that's what we're after," Bresnan said.
"We seem to play really well in the face of -adversity. When we do come across must-win games, like Melbourne, -Colombo, we seem to pull it out the bag," he added.
"And it's not just one guy that's going to be able to do it for us, it's a team effort. We all need to pull in the same direction and I'm sure that will -happen this week," he said.
