Cricket: Bangladesh recall Reza for World T20



 

Bangladesh's cricket selectors on Thursday recalled all-rounder Farhad Reza for the WorldTwenty20, starting in Sri Lanka next month.

The 26-year-old, who played his last T20 international in November 2011 against Pakistan, replaced paceman Nazmul Hossain who was part of the T20 squad which toured Europe last month.

"We opted for Reza considering his all-round ability. He is the kind of player Twenty20 games need,"Bangladesh Cricket Board chief selector Akram Khan told AFP.

Reza has played eight T20 internationals since making his debut in 2006.

Bangladesh have been drawn with Pakistan and New Zealand in the preliminary group D, with the top two sides advancing to the Super Eights round.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will lead the 15-man side in the tournament, starting on September 18.

Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Mohammad Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Jahurul Islam, Mohammad Ashraful, Shakib Al Hasan, Nasir Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Elias Sunny, Mashrafe Mortaza, Farhad Reza, Shafiul Islam, Ziaur Rahman, Abul Hasan.
