Indian model files complaint against Asad Rauf

Asad Rauf is at the receiving end of a complaint filed by a Mumbai-based fashion model that the popular Pakistan umpire lured her with marriage in order to gain sexual favours.

Model Leena Kapoor has filed the complaint with the office of the DCP, Zone IX, mentioning that she met the former First Class cricketer through a mutual friend in Sri Lanka six months ago and exchanged numbers. They also stayed together in the country for three days.

Rauf, 56, a member of ICC’s Elite Umpire Panel, would meet up with Leena whenever cricketing assignments brought him to India.

As the bond between the two grew stronger, Leena alleges that Rauf committed himself to marrying her and getting her a new flat. He also purportedly told her that he was married with two children, but that his religion allowed him to have more than one wife.

“I asked him several times about the marriage and he would always tell me that it would happen soon,” Leena told an Indian daily.

According to the duped woman, Rauf, a few days ago, called her up saying he didn’t know her and didn’t want any further interactions with her.

Officials at the DCP’s office acknowledge the receipt of the complaint letter and have said an inquiry would be conducted soon.
